Reno's J Resort Expands with $130M Investment, Pushing Total Development to $550M
Jacobs Entertainment is investing an additional $130 million in its J Resort property in Reno, Nevada, bringing the total project investment to over $550 million. This expansion follows the company's initial $300 million renovation of the former Sands Regency, which reopened as J Resort last spring.

The initial renovation included:
- Complete renovation of 750 hotel rooms
- Casino floor remodel
- Addition of 1,000+ parking spaces
- New restaurants (Hannah's Table and J Paul's Italian Steakhouse)
- Afterglow nightclub
- 65-foot digital exterior wall displaying global artwork
The new $130 million investment will fund:
- Two new event spaces
- Exhibition hall for Ferrari collection display
- Rooftop indoor-outdoor pool
- Full-service spa
- Glow Plaza concert venue (15,000-person capacity)
The development is part of Jacobs Entertainment's broader vision for the Reno Neon Line, a mixed-use corridor along W. 4th Street. The company has already invested over $100 million in purchasing and clearing properties in the area.
Reno's gaming market has shown strong growth, with Washoe County's gross gaming revenue exceeding $1 billion annually since 2021, marking a significant recovery from the $676 million recorded in 2020. This growth has attracted additional investment to the region, including The Meruelo Group's planned $400 million, 10,500-seat indoor arena in downtown Reno.
